On a warm summer’s evening in August it was a huge pleasure and privilege to host the extraordinary Liz McConaghy at our HQ.

Also known as the ‘Chinook Crew Chick’, Liz regaled our rapt audience with tales of her astounding career flying with the RAF Chinook Fleet. She was the youngest aircrew member to deploy to Iraq and the only female crew on the Chinook wing for four years. In a career spanning 17 years, Liz completed two deployments to Iraq and ten to Afghanistan, including flying ambulance.

After leaving the service, Liz’s struggles with her mental health following her wartime experiences took her to the brink. Having survived the battlefield and the battles in her own head, Liz is sharing her story in the hope of helping others win their own battles. Her motivational talk moved and inspired everyone at the event.

Our sincere thanks and respect to Liz for talking to us. You can read more about Liz here; her book is available from all good bookshops.
